Tears of Jesus is Amazon Best Seller in Religious Mysteries

2013.6.5 amazon.com bestseller in religious mysteries

Time passed by very quickly while I was seeking the possibility of publishing the translation of “Tears of Jesus” in foreign languages. During this time, several people recommended me to introduce the books using website or blog, but I could not start doing so until now.

Recently, “Tears of Jesus” was published in German and English translations followed by Italian translation (German translation was directly translated from Japanese version while Italian translation was translated from English translation version), which made me think it is a good opportunity to start a HP or a blog again.

By introducing the book reviews or situation of the Japanese people who sympathized with “Tears of Jesus” and “Tears of Mary,” overseas readers may learn something from it, so I wanted to start doing just that.

The translation of “Tears of Jesus” is currently underway in several languages from the English version. Once the reviews from overseas readers start coming out, it may be meaningful to introduce such content to Japanese readers or to readers in different countries.

Both “Tears of Jesus” and “Tears of Mary” pose fairly sensational content about important Christian dogmas. I would like to cover such Christian theological themes from time to time. I hope something new will come out from the encounters between the books “Tears of Jesus” and “Tears of Mary” and people in Japan and the world, with Christian countries in particular.

"Tears of Mary" became the best-selling book of the month for several months in the largest Christian bookstore in Japan located in Ginza, Tokyo (Kyobunkan) and it has since been the best-selling book constantly in the Online Shop of Kyobunkan in the genre of Christian literature, play, and movie.

It may not be such a big achievement considering the fact that Christian population in Japan accounts for less than 1 % of the entire population, but I as a writer am happy and honored to receive such a recognition.

Poet So Terada introduced the work in the Book Review of “Weekly Dokusho-jin” while Shinkan Radio introduced the prologue of “Tears of Mary” in the form of radio drama. http://www.sinkan.jp/radio/radio_1374.html

In 2010 I joined the competition of “Book Debut” project jointly held by Intel and Magazine House with my second book “Tears of Mary.” The image of the book was broadcasted by Japan’s National Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) during the morning news on May 23 of the same year which happened to be the Christian festival of Pentecost.

I was deeply involved in writing “Tears of Mary” throughout the entire year of 2010, but the coverage in NHK as well as support from the readers of “Tears of Jesus” had certain impact for “Tears of Mary” to be chosen as one of the best 30 novels out of 8842 by online voting of the readers.

Initially, they were planning to choose 10 novels, but expanded to 30 perhaps in order to give more weight on the adjudication by the company staff. After the final adjudication by the editor of Magazine House and the staff from Intel, my novel was chosen as the “Best Novel.” I was notified by email from both Intel and Magazine House in fall of 2010.

It was a happy surprise to me because I was thinking that my book “Tears of Mary,” which has a very strong Christian background, will never be chosen as the best novel by people at Magazine House or Intel who had nothing to do with Christianity or religion (according to what Magazine House people told me), so it was at the same time a big source of encouragement for me.

My blog was inaccessible from overseas since before winning the award, which means about two years already passed since last time I was writing a blog.

“Tears of Jesus” was published by Art Village Company in November 2008. It was twice introduced in the top page of yahoo and hit the amazon’s best-selling 100 ranking and now we have its fourth edition.

In the Yahoo Japan article dated June 9 2009, “Tears of Jesus” was described as “must read” book, receiving the No. 1 ranking, scoring five stars, in the readers’ review ranking. http://art-v.jp/ichinen/Jesus-namida.html

Welcome to Peter Chavier’s homepage.

I used to write a blog with a similar title, but the specification change of the blog made overseas access impossible and a long time passed before I started writing any blog again.
